Melody Bush (Studio #9)
I LOVE books! My life revolves around books and has for a very long time. I am a retired school library assistant and have been an avid reader since childhood. While working in a library, I was dismayed to see old books discarded, destroyed, or sent to recycling. When I stumbled upon books being used as an art medium in 2018- I knew I had found my calling.
I use old illustrated nonfiction books for my book carving. Carving flower books are my favorite to do, along with bird books. Folded books and cut & folded books are made with hardcover fiction books that are used, damaged, or discarded.
I enjoy making art out of something unexpected. All my books are done by hand, one page at a time.
