Michele Rosenbaum (Studio #40)

Observing life beyond the boundaries of our own experience enhances our understanding of how memories shape us. What impact occurs when a boundary - either self-imposed or imposed upon us - has been crossed? I connect rawness of a story and explore the boundary often in my practice. Feminine identity and fetishization of Asian and mixed race culture have been recurring themes drawn forward.  Images also consider time, space and marginalization.  I also enjoy exploring abstract painting and layers of painting mixed with papers.  Recently, I have been painting over images on canvas to propose that photography is always subjective and never objective. Objectivity acts as a facade. Our expressions through social media and artificial intelligence in particular crown the idea that reality is created and maximized in our contemporary culture.

NOTE: There are three stairs to walk up to the home and a circular driveway is available for parking.

Michele will be hosting Mirta Wymerszberg (Textile/Fiber).
